I’m not into football, nor South Carolina or East Carolina. But here’s a tip for those of you who are:

From Moe’s –

“In celebration of the South Carolina vs. East Carolina game, Moe’s Southwest Grill EpiCentre location will offer free burritos from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, Sept. 2 to Gamecock fans in their South Carolina attire.

Moe’s staff will be wearing USC football jerseys in an effort to help paint Charlotte garnet. The festivities will continue at the EpiCentreĀ  all night with live music at the Pavilion and specials from other EpiCentre businesses.”

Red Velvet Waffles are making their way down to Ballantyne. Terrace Cafe, famous for their luscious brunch waffles, will be opening their second location in Ballantyne Village Monday, Aug. 22.

Frozen yogurt shop Yo! World is a great spot to grab a cool summer treat. The shop, located in Huntersville at exit 23, offers do-it-yourself frozen yogurt (tart and non tart) and an array of the same usual toppings found at froyo places. Among the tastier toppings are waffle cone pieces, rainbow sprinkles (a plus in my book), and Graham cracker bits (not crumbs).

Flavors rotate daily and swirled flavors are available. I tried the cookies and cream flavor twisted together with red velvet cake froyo. It tasted just like real Oreos and cocoa-flavored cake. The best part is most of their yogurts contain only 100 calories per serving.

The yogurt is charged by weight – 45 cents per ounce.

The Bubble Lounge has opened above Aria restaurant Uptown, and all you ladies are invited to a “Girls’ Night out” complimentary reception Thursday, August 11. The 7:30 – 9:30 pm event will feature free champagne, hors d’oeuvres and giveaways.

Feel free to RSVP or just stop by the event, which will benefit “An Evening of Stars,” a prom for 100 patients of the Levine Children’s Hospital. Help out by bringing new or gently used accessories (necklaces, bracelets, etc.) to the event.
